As a member of 1920 New York Yankees, Sam Vick became dispensable when the Yankees acquired Babe Ruth from the Boston Red Sox. Vick was traded to the Red Sox later that season. In a game that 1920 season, The Babe was scheduled to bat with the bases loaded. However, he had injured his hand the previous inning, and was not able to bat. Vick pinch hit for him and drove in all three runs with a triple.

Read a letter written by Sam Vick attesting to this hitting feat.
