Interesting Facts:

On August 20,1951, an old-timers baseball game was held at Legion Field in Greenwood whereby the former pro baseball players in the area took on the Greenwood Dodgers of the Cotton States League.

On April 4, 1935, The New York Giants and Cleveland Indians played an exhibition game at Legion Field in Greenwood.

On October 23,1952, Roy Campanella and his all-stars came to Legion Field in Greenwood, MS to play an exhibition game against the Negro American League all-stars. Campanella's team featured such all-stars as, Hank Thompson, Harry "Suitcase" Simpson, Larry Doby, George Crowe, Monte Irvin, Joe Black, Leon Day, and Verdell Mathis. The Negro American League all-stars featured Frank Barnes, James Tugerson, and Marshall Bridges. The game was won by the Negro American League all-stars, 3-0. Attendance for the game was 2,080.
